So just what is Thanksgiving to you? Is it just another day? Is it an excuse for a day off? Is it just food and football?
Ninety-two times we find the words Give Thanks in the Bible. Over and over we find that giving thanks is also associated with changing perspective or attitude. How true it is, when we just take time to give thanks we cant help but change our attitude. Self begins to melt away as we focus on God and His many blessings. Our perspective changes and life takes on a whole new look. As we take time to celebrate Thanksgiving, take time to give thanks.
Yesterday in our children's ministry at church, the lesson looked at three of the feasts which God set up for the Israelites to observe. The purpose of each one of these special times is to stop and take time to remember what God has done; deliverance, provision, protection. What does our list look like...I dare say we find the same things today. If we don't, it's not because God isn't working...most likely its because we aren't looking. I challenge each of us to take five minuets each day this week to just list the things we are thankful for...and then take time to thank God for each of them.
Happy Thanksgiving Week...
